Champagne
It’s that time of year again. The holidays are coming, and little feels more festive than a good sparkling wine! While it’s true that fizzy wine pairs with anything and everything, with such a wide variety available, it can be daunting to know where to start. For your next winter gathering, here are some hearty appetizer ideas to complement your favorite bottle of bubbly.

Prosecco with Dungeness Crab Cakes

Whether slightly sweet or bone dry, Italian Prosecco is a great match for Dungeness crab, a favorite winter feature on the West Coast. Serve up the cakes with a range of sauces, sweet, spicy, and savory.

Cava with Charcuterie and Cheese

For refreshing, Iberian bubbles, we recommend a platter of dry-cured chorizo, hazelnuts, and Cabra Al Vino, a sweet, Spanish goat cheese.

Brut Rosé with Gorgonzola and Rosemary Thin Crust Pizza

A fuller bodied, dry sparkling Rosé will stand up to the bold flavors of gorgonzola and rosemary.

Champagne with Smoked Salmon

For fish lovers, this elegant pairing is a match made in foodie nirvana. For purists, serve Champagne alongside a variety of salmon, straight up. If you prefer a vehicle for your smoked fish, serve it on rye toasts with micro greens, cream cheese, and capers.

Lambrusco with Pulled Pork Sliders

This Italian sparkling red wine comes in a variety of styles. For appetizer pairings, we prefer the light, bright, and acidic. Lambrusco is an ideal pairing for pork, and sliders are an easy (and tasty) way to satisfy your hungriest visitors.

Sparkling wines are as diverse as the foods that they pair with, so it’s hard to go wrong! Feel free to have fun and experiment, and if you come up with any ingenious bubbly pairings, we’d love to hear about them!
