This is exactly the kind of small-batch, great-value Bordeaux we love to find for you. Château du Prieur hails from a family-owned estate just outside of storied Saint-Emilion and Bordeaux’s stellar 2015 vintage, “a fantastic year” that produced “rich and opulent wines” (critic James Suckling). It blends soft, plummy Merlot with splashes of Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon, for added depth and structure. The 2014 release won gold from Gilbert & Gaillard – and we think this rich 2015 is equally impressive.
Château du Prieur lies in the heart of Bordeaux, just five miles from the Medieval town of Saint-Emilion (home to some of the region’s finest wines). It’s run by father-son team Didier and Arnaud Merit, the grandson and great-grandson of the château’s founder, Emmanuel Merit. The property boasts 55 hectares of vines, situated on sunny, south-facing slopes and grown on clay and limestone soils. These conditions yield beautifully ripe and concentrated grapes – you’ll taste the results in your glass.
