For 38 years, Christian Moueix (pictured below) was at the helm of Pétrus – perhaps the most sought-after Bordeaux of all. At $3,000-plus a bottle, it’s certainly the priciest. And thanks to our long friendship with the Moueix family, you’re invited to enjoy Christian’s ‘Private Reserve’ from 2010, a vintage that was rated 98 Points by Wine Spectator. This is just the kind of complex, impressive find we seek out for our best customers (like you!). And it shows why Bordeaux is still the world’s most famous region for reds.
Bordeaux makes around one in eight bottles of French wine, including some of the world’s most celebrated, cellar-worthy reds. The word ‘Bordeaux’ is derivative of au bord de l’eau, meaning ‘along the waters.’ On the Right Bank of the Dordogne, the reds tend to be crafted around Merlot, while the Left Bank focuses on Cabernet. Christian’s delicious Right Bank cuvée is Merlot-rich with a dash of Cab.
