Les Heritiers Sauvignon Blanc 2014
Touraine AOC, France

Irma La Douce
Not currently scheduled. Check TCM Schedule for more information.

Crisp wit and visual comedy abound in this Parisian-set charmer from Billy Wilder. Jack Lemmon reunites with Shirley MacLaine for an amusing romance in the redlight district. Enjoy with this refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley and share a laugh.

THE WINE

This top-class 'Cuvée Spéciale' Sauvignon Blanc was sent directly by our trusted Loire Valley insiders, the Bougrier family – a fine wine institution in the region since 1885. For the third year in a row, the Loire Valley had a very low-yielding harvest in 2013. But the tiny amount of grapes that did survive have yielded wines with bright acidity and beautiful fruit flavors (and are now in high demand). Like the best Loire Sauvignon, Les Heritiers is crisp, elegant and poised. Enjoy your taste as a chic aperitif or with seafood.

THE WINEMAKER

region-food2Nöel Bougrier (below, examining his grapes mid-way through the ripening season) is a fourth-generation Loire vine grower. His family, whose cellar is based on the river Cher in the Loire's premium Touraine region, are familiar with every inch of the valley. Our expert team have been working with them for many years, which means you have privileged access to their very best wines (even in a year like 2013, with its minuscule yields).

THE REGION

Touraine offers
a wide range ofwhites (and some delicious reds too), but it is perhaps most famous for its Sauvignon Blanc. The finest can challenge the far more famous and considerably more expensive Sauvignons of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé in the eastern Loire. Though Touraine's wines are often slightly zestier, it can be hard to tell them apart (unless you look at the price tag).

THE FOOD

Serve this extremely refreshing white as a welcome to thirsty dinner guests as they walk in the door. It'll pair well with hors d'oeuvres or main courses involving grilled fish, shellfish, oysters or moules marinières (marinated mussels). Prefer no seafood? Serve pork tenderloin with a garlic/herb cream sauce. It's also excellent with Sauvignon Blanc's classic match, goat cheese.
