Enjoy its many delights with a charming wine full of classic flavors of ripe fruit and spice.

THE WINE

Chianti is Tuscany’s best-known red, and savvy wine fans know the finest hail from Chianti Classico – especially in a fantastic vintage like 2015. Your perfect taste arrives from the historic estate of Castello di Meleto and winemaking team Matteo Menicacci and Emiliano Falsini, who are no strangers to international acclaim. After hand-harvesting and selecting on the best Sangiovese, the duo aged the wine for a year in top-shelf oak barrels. Velvety-smooth, it boasts classic sour cherry, violet, and vanilla-spice flavors, and is a great choice for your next Italian feast.

THE ESTATE

The first record of Castello di Meleto comes from a 1256 surveying book that documented its purchase by the Firidolfi family. The estate is located just two miles away from the famous, 10th-century church, Pieve di Spaltenna (shown on the label), which is surrounded by the vineyards that yielded the Sangiovese for this Chianti Classico. Along with crafting world-class wines, the team also makes organic olive oil and breeds Cinta Senese pigs.

THE REGION

VY_Italy_Tuscany_sunsetBright sunshine, rolling hills, olive trees, charming villas ... Tuscany is as famous for its enchanting landscape as it is for its wines. Some of the most famous of all hail from the top-quality ‘Classico’ zone, the hillier, original region situated between the cities of Siena and Florence. Note the small black rooster on the neck of your bottle: it’s a symbol of quality worn only by Classico wines.

WITH FOOD

beef_roastbeef_poshWhen it comes to a gorgeous Chianti Classico like Pieve di Spaltenna, we can think of no better match than hearty Italian fare. If you’re feeling fancy, go for bistecca alla Fiorentina (Florentine steak) or traditional rosbiffe (slowcooked roast beef). Prefer a simple meal? Try grilled sausages and peppers, classic spaghetti and meatballs, or pepperoni calzones.
