One of the all-time great holiday films, White Christmas was a huge box-office hit for Paramount thanks to its combination of star power, musical score (by Irving Berlin), and gorgeous production values. A partial reworking of the 1942 film Holiday Inn, the source of the Oscar-winning song “White Christmas,” this Technicolor version pairs Bing Crosby with Danny Kaye in a postwar story of two army buddies who attempt to save a struggling Vermont Inn. Enjoy it with a bottle of this Cabernet for some truly ‘merry and bright’ holiday entertainment.

Paramount Pictures’ 1954 musical comedy White Christmas is essential holiday viewing in households across the world. If the snow you dream of does fall, a glass of this rich California Cabernet can only warm the heart further. Crafted by talented winemaker Doug Roosevelt, White Christmas shows all the fruit-forward flavor of the excellent 2017 vintage. Look forward to luscious black fruit, complemented by warming baking spice notes. Sip it fireside, serve on your holiday table, or enjoy any time of year with hearty beef, firm cheeses, and more.

Cabernet is the king of the reds, loved for its deepcolored, black currant-rich wines. Most famously, it’s the variety that powers Bordeaux’s legendary first growths, like Château Lafite and Château Margaux. However, you’ll also find plenty of world-class examples in California. The best known (and expensive) reds come from the Napa Valley and Sonoma, but there are many hot spots across the Golden State that deliver big bang for your buck.

VY_general_winterDoug Roosevelt grew up with a passion for wine – his father was an avid collector and their family spent weekends touring vineyards in Napa. After the birth of his son, Doug decided to make his passion his profession. He left a successful career in the medical industry to complete the prestigious UC Davis Winemaking Certificate Program, and has been making world-class wines like this ever since.

beef_potroastWith its fun label and warming, black-fruit flavors, White Christmas will make a merry centerpiece for your holiday table. Enjoy it alongside a classic beef pot roast or hearty beef stews. (Or, save it for “Christmas in July” to pair with juicy steaks and burgers.) Meat not on the menu? This will also shine with firm, aged cheeses, vegetarian casseroles, or cheesy pasta dishes.
