This drama follows a journalist's relentless investigation into a decades-old murder case. Directed by Henry Hathaway and starring James Stewart and Richard Conte, its documentary approach includes on-location shooting (it would be the first feature film shot on the streets of Chicago). Wine Flavor Profile

Cinco Manos Pinot Noir is a medium-bodied red with aromas of ripe red cherry that mingle with blackberry and currant, all framed by notes of cedar. It’s silky and rich on the attack, with luscious berry and spice flavors lingering on the long, smooth finish.

If Viña Casa Silva isn’t on your radar yet, it should be.

The Silva family’s winemaking history dates to 1892, when patriarch Emilio Bouchon emigrated from Saint-Emilion in Bordeaux and began making wine. Five generations later, the family established their modern outfit, Viña Casa Silva, in 1997.

And, it’s already become one of Chile’s foremost estates, winning the ‘Winery of the Year’ title in 2013 from The Wines of Chile and earning the distinction of “Most Awarded Winery of the 21st Century” (Vitis). So when our expert convinced them to make this exclusive Pinot Noir just for our customers, it was a serious win.

Cinco Manos hails from the family’s high-altitude Colchagua Valley vineyards, where grapes benefit from cool Pacific Ocean breezes and that brilliant (intense!) Chilean sunshine—a quality advantage that gives their Pinot Noir a perfectly ripened, fresh and complex character (watch out, France!). Thanks to a brief slumber in oak barrels, the wine has a lovely cedar note framing the cherry and berry fruit flavors.

On 9 Dec 1932, during Chicago's violent Prohibition period, police officer John W. Bundy is murdered while he drinks at a speakeasy operated by Wanda Skutnik. Following a tip from a bootlegger, police question Frank Wiecek, who has a minor police record, about his friend Tomek Zaleska, who asserts that he was home at the time of the murder. Finding some inconsistencies in Frank's statements, police hold him on suspicion of the crime. After six weeks of hiding out, Tomek surrenders to the police, and while he maintains that he is innocent, he and Frank are convicted of the murder, based on Wanda's identification of them as the masked assailants, and are sentenced to ninety-nine years at Stateville Penitentiary.
