Wine Flavor Profile
Heredad de Chavarri is a medium-bodied white with intensely fruity apple, pear and grapefruit aromas, plus floral and herbal notes. Fresh, balanced and persistent, the palate has crisp orchard- and tropical-fruit flavors and a ripe, round mouthfeel.
You may recognize Ruth Chavarri’s name—she’s the talented, fifth-generation winemaker behind some of our most popular Rioja reds. But Ruth’s actually a bigger fan of refreshing whites. So when her family recently invested in Rías Baixas (on Spain’s northwest coast…it’s the place for Albariño), she jumped at the opportunity to make a lovely Albariño.
This super-fresh release was cool-fermented—a fancy winemaking process which locks in intense aromas, like the intriguing floral and herbal notes you’ll notice here. The wine then rested on its lees for nine months before bottling, producing more tropical aromas and flavors, wrapped around a smooth texture.
The wine is intensely crisp and aromatic. You may even detect a faint salty tang, a trademark of Albariño. A perfect seafood white.
“You’ll find Spain’s best Albariño in the Rías Baixas region, and the Chavarri family’s is particularly fresh and elegant.”
