Classic Movie Pairing

Gidget (1959)

Gidget (1959). An Australian wine that can be described as "sunshine in a glass" calls for a sunny, smile-inducing movie. With a contagiously effervescent Sandra Dee as the teen surfer, this hit film helped to bring Southern Californian culture to the masses. Its popularity led to two sequels and a television series that launched the career of Sally Field.

Wine Flavor Profile

The Full Fifteen is a full-bodied red wine with billowing aromas of spicy blackberry, vanilla oak and chocolate. The velvety palate offers mouthfilling black cherry, plum and cassis flavors, plus a long, concentrated finish.

Top Australian winemaker Andrew McPherson calls this fan-favorite The Full Fifteen for a reason. With its ripe, sunshine-in-a-glass flavors (made velvety smooth by its FULL 15% alcohol), the 2021 release is as big, rich and rewarding as ever.

Francie Lawrence, a tomboy nearing her seventeenth birthday, is chided by her girl friends for her lack of interest in the opposite sex. To insure that Francie does not become a "social outcast," her friends take her to the beach on a "manhunt." When Francie decides she would rather go swimming than flirt with the surfers, however, her friends leave in disgust. While paddling out to sea, Francie becomes caught in a bed of kelp, prompting Moondoggie, one of the surfers, to free her and give her a ride back to shore on his surfboard. Thrilled by the sensation of riding a wave, she decides to become a surfer, even though the boys deride the diminutive Francie as a "gidget," a girl midget.
