Sam Trimboli Bin Select Shiraz Durif Grenache 2024
What better to pair with this full-bodied and vibrant Australian red than this popular Western romance from the Australian New Wave. Directed by George Miller and starring Kirk Douglass, it is the second adaptation of Australian poet A.B. "Banjo" Paterson's 1890 poem about the search for a prizewinning racehorse in the mountains of New South Wales. It became an instant hit in its home country and is still one of its biggest box office success. Enjoy this rich drama with this equally bold red.

Wine Flavor Profile
The man behind this bold wine is none other than Sam Trimboli, and if you love “big reds,” you’re in for a real treat. His luscious blend of Shiraz, Durif and Grenache is deep, dark and rich—with a touching tribute story behind it all.
Born in Italy and raised Down Under, Sam is now one of Australia’s most awarded winemakers, fittingly nicknamed “Mr. Medals.” He’s proudly made wine on his own since 1986, a year represented by the Roman numerals on this acclaimed debut. It hails from Riverina, in southeastern Australia’s Big Rivers region—an area where viticulture thrives thanks to the life-giving Lachlan and Murrumbidgee Rivers. Without them, the hot, dry climate and low rainfall would make grape growing nearly impossible.
Here’s a word from Sam: “This wine is my tribute to those who first supported and believed in me as a young Italian living Down Under, making wines that were a reflection of this—traditionally Italian with an Aussie twist. Those who gave me a chance seemed to like them, and the rest is history. My blend of Shiraz, Durif and Grenache has a deep red color with purple hues, a combination of raspberry and cinnamon aromas with blackberry and redcurrant flavors, backing up with a well-weighted fullness and richness.”
Enjoy it with grilled meats, roasted vegetables or a rich pasta bake. However you pour it, you’re in for a delicious representation of the unique Australian-Italian wine heritage.
Think Malbec, and your mind may drift straight to Argentina or France. But what if we told you some of the most exciting selections were coming from even farther afield? Exhibit A: The Coach House, an exceedingly delicious, floral- and plum-flavored Malbec crafted in South Africa.
The rich red wine comes to us from a top winery in Robertson—one of the country’s best grape growing areas, renowned for its limestone-rich soils. The estate is run by the De Wet family, who’ve been making wine for five generations. Their philosophy? Great wine is made in the vineyard. And their careful farming and viticultural expertise shines through in the final product.
The grapes for this wine were hand-picked at their peak ripeness to ensure quality, flavor and freshness. In the glass, it’s expressive and approachable, with easy-going plum and blackberry characteristics, violet aromas and distinctive chocolate tones. Deliciously quaffable solo, it’s also super versatile at the table, but is especially good alongside juicy steak or roast beef.
“This is my tribute to those who first supported and believed in me as a young Italian winemaker in Australia. Cheers, mates!”
